Chevy Urges Students' Success with 'Get Schooled' Event

Chevrolet has joined forces with the United Way for Southeastern Michigan, Viacom, and the Get Schooled Foundation to encourage school attendance and up graduation rates in Detroit schools. Seventeen schools will compete in a friendly competition to score points for school attendance and participation in special activities, such as a video contest, trivia quizzes, and signing up for wake-up calls every morning from their favorite celebrities. Marie Groark, Executive Director of the Get Schooled program explains, "Friendly competition is a great motivator for high school students, and we continue to see proof of this with our national and local attendance challenges. We're excited to bring the challenge program to Detroit in a powerful way thanks to the support of [our partners]."1

Chevy Achieved Its Highest Sales Ever in 2011

How many vehicles did Chevrolet sell globally last year? A shiny 4.76 million, passing its own goal and driving parent company, General Motors', sales to over nine million units, a 7.6 percent gain versus 2010 numbers. Chevy's own numbers were up 13 percent in the United States in 2011, with huge gains in China (9.5 percent), Russia (49 percent), Vietnam 979 percent), German (21 percent), and Turkey (30 percent) as well. 1,775,812 vehicles were sold in the U.S. alone.
